Job Description
Overview The Store Manager is responsible for the overall daily operations, financial health, and hospitality standards of the new Santa Cruz West Side Manresa Bread Bakery. This role balances direct guest interaction, team leadership (both FOH and BOH), inventory control, and strict compliance management. In this role, you'll oversee daily bakery operations, manage staff, and uphold high standards of food quality, safety, and hospitality. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with a love for baking, excellent management skills, and a knack for creating a welcoming environment for both staff and customers.
Expected Hours & Availability:
This is a full-time position requiring 40 to 45 hours per week . Weekend, holiday, and occasional evening availability is strictly required based on business needs.

Leadership, Culture & Staff Management Foster a
Positive Environment:
Cultivate a respectful team culture focused on delivering a premium, memorable guest experience that consistently exceeds customer expectations.
Personnel Management:
Oversee the recruiting, training, evaluation, motivation, and—when necessary—termination of Palo Alto FOH and BOH staff. Maintain an atmosphere of dignity and respect.
Compliance & Training:
Ensure all managers and shift leaders complete mandatory ServSafe and Harassment Training. Guide employees on company policies and the effective utilization of 7shifts .
Labor & Break Compliance:
Monitor floor task flow to ensure all staff strictly adhere to mandated rest and meal break schedules, minimizing overtime and labor penalties.
Review corporate emails every morning. Print and discuss critical updates with the team before the store opens. Respond promptly to executive management feedback.
Order Fulfillment:
Plan, oversee, and organize the complete assembly and fulfillment process for pre-orders flowing through Tock, Toast, and DoorDash .
Financial Oversight:
Monitor the store's financial health by pulling and analyzing daily and weekly Toast reports. Use data to actively manage labor costs within ownership parameters.
Inventory Control:
Manage ordering, vendor purchasing, inventory audits, and daily deliveries to maintain optimal stock levels while minimizing food and beverage waste.
Safety & Cleanliness:
Enforce overall store cleanliness, food safety standards, and strict employee uniform/appearance guidelines. Properly file accident reports immediately in the event of any workplace injury.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Language:
Must be fully fluent in both English and Spanish (written and verbal).
Technical:
Proficiency using computers.
Transportation:
Must have a reliable means of transportation. Travel between retail stores, the commissary, and occasional errands is required.
Skills & Etiquette:
Proven capability to manage, coach, and organize retail employees with minimal supervision. Exceptional time management, multitasking, and prioritization skills. High school equivalent mathematical skills (for cash handling, drawers, and inventory calculations). Excellent phone and in-person professional etiquette.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Environment:
Generally indoors. The environment is fast-paced, noisy, and involves regular exposure to mechanical equipment, heat, cold water, and common allergens (wheat, flour dust, nuts, dairy, meat).
Stamina:
Ability to work in a standing position for long periods (at least 8 hours per day) and communicate effectively in a loud environment.
Agility & Strength:
Continual use of gross and fine motor skills. Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds. Satisfactory vision and hearing.
