Job SummaryThe Strategy Planning & Development Senior Manager sits within the EMEA Corporate Development & Strategy team and leads Regional business planning and analysis as well as supports/leads strategic initiatives. The Senior Manager is expected to build strong partnerships with all major functions to ensure a shared view on the business plan. The Senior Manager owns the regional overview of Expansion CAPEX and future capacity, reviews and supports cash capex budgets and monitors execution so that investments track to plan. Depending on size and complexity of strategic initiatives, the Senior Manager supports or leads on projects. Given the complexity of the role, the Senior Manager operates in a highly structured and organized manner, and is also capable of building strong, positive working relations.
Responsibilities Strategic Planning and DevelopmentConsolidates regional investment plans for Capital Expansion budget and forecast purposesOwns the Regional Expansion plan and manages stakeholders towards that planManages the strategic planning process in conjunction with the Regional and Corporate teamsEvaluates and (in some cases) spearheads corporate development opportunities, partnering with Finance, Country management, Global Design and Construction and other operating areasDevelops strategy/business cases and sells into organizationCreates Corporate Development Board presentation materialsGives presentations to senior management on key initiativesTakes on a wide variety of roles, depending on the projectParticipates in and leads key initiatives during the annual strategy planning processGuides research into market extension opportunities (i.e. new services, solutions, business models, markets)Project and Program ManagementWorks with VP and Senior Director Corporate Development & Strategy to identify business issues requiring project managementLeads and manages cross-functional program teams, and raises/resolves issuesIdentifies, designs, prioritizes, manages and reports on complex strategic initiatives across the businessAnticipates business issues and, where applicable, raises issues (and recommended solutions) for considerationLeads efforts on internal consulting projects focused on new markets/products, growth initiatives and profitability improvementsProvides short-term consulting/problem solving/performance improvement support and advice to VP Corporate Development and other regional stakeholdersRuns (interdepartmental) meetings with little or no supervisionCross-Functional CoordinationHelps kick-off meetings and hosts sections of cross-departmental meetings as neededWorks with working group team members to identify, catalogue, document, and make recommendations to more senior team membersProvides summary notes and follow-up emails to working teamsQualificationsBachelor's degree preferred; CFA, CPA or MBA a plus7+ years of business experience, preferably in Investment Banking/Top tier Management consulting/Corporate Finance/Corporate Development at a leading technology company preferredStrong planning expertise with the ability to consolidate complex regional data and drive structured outputsAdvanced proficiency in Excel; comfortable working with large datasets and financial modelsHighly structured and organized - able to manage multiple workstreams and priorities simultaneouslyStrong collaborative approach with proven ability to build relationships and influence across functions and seniority levelsGood understanding of financial concepts, budgeting and investment planningExcellent communication skills - able to prepare and present materials to senior leadershipSelf-starter with a proactive mindset; comfortable operating with ambiguity and minimal supervisionEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.
