CONSULTATIVE SALES INTERNSHIP JOB DETAILS
Location:
Carmel, Indiana (Onsite)
Internship Dates:

Full-time (37.5 hours/week)

INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW
The Summer Sales Internship provides immersive exposure to MJ's consulting and business development approach through a rotational experience in both Employee Benefits (EB) and Property & Casualty (P&C). Interns will spend five weeks in each department, gaining insight into how MJ consultants build relationships, identify opportunities, and create value for clients. Throughout the program, interns will participate in real-world sales activities, client interactions, professional development experiences, and executive presentations designed to strengthen business acumen, communication skills, and confidence. The internship concludes with a capstone project that allows participants to showcase their learning and demonstrate the skills developed throughout the experience.
WHAT YOU'LL EXPERIENCE
Rotational Learning Experience Participate in an 11-week internship program with equal exposure to: Employee Benefits (5 weeks) Property & Casualty (5 weeks) Capstone project preparation and presentation (1 week) The MJ Way of Consulting Learn MJ's consultative approach to client engagement, problem-solving, and relationship management. Gain an understanding of how consultants create value and become trusted advisors to clients. Develop the ability to articulate MJ's story, value proposition, and differentiators in the marketplace. Sales & Business Development Exposure Research industries, organizations, and prospective clients. Build and maintain prospect lists using market research and business intelligence tools. Develop and refine cold outreach messaging and prospecting strategies. Observe and support business development activities across multiple consulting disciplines. Communication & Presentation Development Deliver weekly presentations to leaders and executives. Strengthen professional communication and executive presence skills. Receive coaching and feedback to improve presentation effectiveness and confidence. Role Play & Consultative Selling Practice Participate in regular role-play exercises with experienced consultants. Practice business conversations, discovery meetings, and relationship-building techniques. Learn how to engage prospects through a consultative rather than transactional sales approach. Client Exposure Participate in client meetings and observe consultant-client interactions. Gain firsthand experience with relationship management, strategic discussions, and client service delivery. Learn how consulting teams collaborate to develop and present solutions. Capstone Project Complete a capstone project that demonstrates key insights, skills, and experiences gained throughout the internship.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of the internship, participants will: Develop a foundational understanding of the insurance, employee benefits, and risk management industries. Understand the difference between a traditional sales approach and a consultative mindset. Build confidence in communicating with executive-level leaders and clients. Strengthen professional presentation and business communication skills. Gain practical experience in prospecting, outreach, and relationship development. Develop an understanding of MJ's consulting philosophy, capabilities, and value proposition. Build a professional network with consultants, leaders, and business professionals across the organization.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Sales, Business, Marketing, Finance, Entrepreneurship, or a related field
