Full-Time / Salaried Job Summary We are seeking a high-level leader to serve as the "operational anchor" for our multi-faceted program. As the Assistant Director, you will oversee daily operations, staff excellence, and parent relations, ensuring Camp Learn meets its afternoon educational goals, The Outpost is prepared for the afternoon rush, Night Watch is prepared for evening care and the Weekend Campers are prepared for activity filled days. Your primary mission is to ensure 100% compliance with Texas HHSC standards while maintaining our commitment to child safety and discovery.
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership:
Oversee the 11:00 AM Administrative Assistant "Plug-In" and manage the critical 3:30 PM and 6:30 PM program transition between Camp Learn, The Outpost and Night Watch.
Compliance & Safety:
Maintain "inspector-ready" files for all children and staff. Conduct monthly fire and weather drills and ensure continuous safety.
Staff Mentorship:
Conduct "Teacher Wellness Checks" and provide on-the-floor coaching and active supervision for Lead Caregivers and Assistants.
Parent Relations:
Serve as the primary point of contact for evening care services and afternoon concerns. Manage enrollment tours, family on-boarding, and maintain open communication regarding center policies.
Curriculum & Quality:
Ensure the Camp Learn curriculum is implemented with high energy and quality across all classrooms while maintaining state-mandated ratios.
Administrative Support:
Manage staff schedules to ensure no caregiver exceeds 10 hours of direct care in a 24-hour period and designate qualified individuals to be in charge during a Director's absence.
Qualifications & Requirements Age:
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Education or Experience Requirements:
A Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Management, or a related field is required, with a Director's Certificate preferred or 60
College Credit Hours:
Includes 9 college credit hours in child development, 6 college credit hours in management, and at least 2 years of experience or
Alternative Coursework Track:
9 college credit hours in child development, 9 college credit hours in management, and at least 3 years of experience or
Experience:
2+ years in a licensed childcare management role or 5+ years of Lead Teaching experience.
Compliance Expertise:
Thorough knowledge of Texas HHSC Minimum Standards and the Texas Rising Star program.
Legal & Health:
Must be able to pass all FBI fingerprint and background checks.
Certifications:
Must hold or be willing to obtain current Pediatric First Aid and Pediatric CPR certifications.
Essential Skills The Problem Solver:
Ability to remain calm and effective during high-traffic transition hours.
Strategic Leadership:
Strong competency in staff supervision, leadership, and fostering a cooperative team atmosphere.
Digital Literacy:
Proficiency in managing enrollment software, staff schedules, and professional email correspondence.
Pay:
$18.00 - $22.00 per hour
