Reports To:
Principal Position Overview Christ the King School seeks a dynamic, organized, and student-centered leader to serve as our After School and Summer Camp Director. This position is responsible for the planning, implementation, supervision, and continuous improvement of our licensed after-school and summer camp programs serving children in Preschool through Middle School. The Director will create a safe, engaging, and enriching environment that supports the social, emotional, physical, and academic development of children while ensuring compliance with all Vermont Child Development Division (CDD) regulations, licensing requirements, and program standards. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, collaborative team leader, and passionate advocate for children and families. Essential Responsibilities Program Leadership
  • Develop, coordinate, and oversee daily operations of the after-school and summer camp programs.
  • Design engaging enrichment opportunities, recreational activities, field trips, and special events.
  • Ensure programs reflect best practices in youth development and provide meaningful experiences for children of varying ages and abilities.
  • Maintain a positive, inclusive, and welcoming environment for children, families, and staff. Licensing and Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all Vermont Child Development Division regulations governing licensed afterschool programs and summer day camps.
  • Maintain required records, documentation, attendance, incident reports, and child files.
  • Monitor staff training requirements and licensing compliance.
  • Prepare for and participate in licensing visits and inspections.
  • Implement health, safety, emergency preparedness, and risk management procedures. Staff Supervision
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate program staff alongside the Principal.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative team culture focused on safety, professionalism, and positive relationships with children.
  • Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios at all times. Family and Community Engagement
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for families.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding program activities, expectations, and student needs.
  • Build partnerships with community organizations and enrichment providers.
  • Address family concerns professionally and promptly. Administrative Responsibilities
  • Manage program registration and enrollment processes.
  • Assist with budgeting, purchasing, and inventory management.
  • Develop program calendars, handbooks, newsletters, and promotional materials.
  • Maintain accurate billing and attendance records as directed by school administration.
  • Collect and analyze program data to support continuous improvement. Qualifications Candidates must meet Vermont Child Development Division qualifications for Program Directors of licensed afterschool and summer camp programs, including eligibility to serve in a supervisory role under Vermont regulations. Preferred qualifications include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, Youth Development, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience working with school-age children.
  • Previous experience supervising staff and managing programs.
  • Knowledge of Vermont licensing regulations and child care compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Experience working with diverse learners and families.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain upon hire). Required Clearances Successful candidates must:
  • Pass all required state and federal background checks.
  • Meet all Vermont Child Development Division employment requirements.
  • Maintain certifications and trainings required by licensing regulations. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to participate in recreational activities, field trips, and emergency procedures as needed. Compensation and Benefits
