Job Description

Job Description The University of Alabama at Birmingham Police and Public Safety Department seeks Dispatcher Police personnel. Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Sends and receives radio transmission from sworn and non-sworn field units and surrounding agencies.
  • Answers the telephone and determines the form of assistance required. Assures units within the department responds or refers the call to other sources for resolution.
  • Performs multi-tasking priorities. Maintains knowledge of all required department policies and procedures.
  • Operates the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center/National Crime Information Center (ACJIC/NCIC) terminal and become certified on the same.
  • Operates equipment in the Communications Center.
  • Rotates on all shifts and all days of the week, at the discretion of the Communications Supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Starting hourly rate:
