Job Description
Ocean Container Dispatcher - 海柜调度 Job Overview We are looking for an experienced Ocean Container Dispatcher to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience coordinating ocean container transportation in the Los Angeles/Long Beach (LA/LB) port area and be able to independently manage daily container pickup, delivery, and return operations. The successful candidate will coordinate with drivers, trucking companies, terminals, customers, and internal teams to ensure containers are moved efficiently and on schedule. Key Responsibilities Coordinate daily ocean container pickup and return operations at the LA/LB ports. Schedule and manage terminal appointments and container availability. Dispatch drivers and coordinate daily routes, pickup times, and delivery schedules. Monitor container status, including availability, pickup, delivery, and return appointments . Communicate with drivers, trucking companies, terminals, customers, and internal teams to resolve scheduling and operational issues. Track container movements and provide timely updates regarding delays, appointment changes, or other issues. Coordinate chassis availability and equipment needs when necessary. Maintain accurate records of container numbers, booking information, appointment times, pickup/return status, and delivery information. Follow up on empty container returns and help avoid unnecessary demurrage, detention, or per diem charges. Handle daily dispatch-related phone calls, messages, and communications professionally. Assist with resolving problems such as terminal congestion, appointment issues, container availability, driver delays, and return restrictions . Maintain accurate transportation and shipping documentation. Work closely with warehouse and operations teams to coordinate container loading/unloading schedules. Perform other dispatch and logistics duties as assigned. Qualifications Must have hands-on experience in ocean container dispatching. Familiarity with LA/LB port operations and major container terminals . Knowledge of container pickup, delivery, empty return, and terminal appointment procedures . Experience coordinating with drivers, trucking companies, chassis providers, terminals, and customers . Ability to independently manage multiple containers, drivers, and schedules at the same time. Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle time-sensitive issues. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook , is preferred. Bilingual English/Chinese or English/Spanish is a plus. Candidates with established driver, trucking company, chassis, or industry-related resources are highly preferred. Important Candidates without actual ocean container dispatching experience will not be considered.
