Operations Dispatcher - Transportation

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Operations Dispatcher specializing in transportation to join our team. In this vital role, you will coordinate and manage daily freight movements, ensuring seamless communication between drivers, carriers, and clients. Your expertise in transportation management systems and logistics will drive efficiency, optimize routes, and uphold safety standards. Responsibilities Coordinate and schedule freight pickups and deliveries using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine. Utilize GPS to monitor vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure timely deliveries. Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems while maintaining professional phone etiquette. Enter data accurately into logistics software, including shipping & receiving records, and fleet management systems. Monitor freight status updates, troubleshoot delays, and adjust dispatch plans accordingly to meet delivery deadlines. Maintain detailed logs of shipments, dispatch activities, and incident reports to ensure compliance with company policies. Collaborate with 3PL providers and internal departments to coordinate shipping schedules, freight loads, and transportation planning. Requirements Proven experience with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms. Strong analysis skills to interpret GPS data, GIS mapping tools, and supply chain metrics for effective decision-making. Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey instructions clearly over multi-line phone systems and via email. Proficiency in data entry, typing accuracy, and managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of logistics operations including shipping & receiving, fleet management, freight coordination, and 3PL partnerships. Familiarity with transportation planning tools such as GPS tracking software and GIS mapping applications. Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail in dispatching activities. Preferred Qualifications Experience with transportation planning or logistics analysis within supply chain environments. Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures along with fleet management best practices Strong understanding of freight regulations, safety standards, and phone etiquette for professional communication.
