Job Description

The City of Gridley is seeking a dedicated and professional Public Safety Dispatcher to join our Police Department team. This position serves as a critical link between the public and emergency responders by receiving and dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, EMS, animal control, and after-hours public works services. Key Responsibilities Receive and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls. Dispatch police, fire, EMS, and other emergency personnel. Maintain communication with officers and emergency personnel in the field. Provide information and assistance to the public. Process police reports, warrants, citations, and related records. Enter and retrieve information from law enforcement databases. Perform clerical and administrative support functions for the Police Department. Assist with records management and public inquiries. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. One (1) year of clerical, receptionist, customer service, or public contact experience; public safety experience is preferred. Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in emergency situations. Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills. Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Required Certifications (Must Obtain Within One Year of Employment) California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS) Certificate Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) Certificate POST Basic Dispatcher Certificate Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, detail-oriented, customer-service focused, and able to effectively multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
