Position Summary The PBX & Emergency Response Operator plays a vital role in ensuring seamless communication across the hospital. In this fast-paced, high-impact position, you'll manage incoming and outgoing calls, support patients and staff with critical information, and serve as a key player in emergency response coordination. This role is ideal for someone who thrives under pressure, communicates clearly, and is passionate about delivering exceptional service while supporting patient safety. As a successful candidate, you will: Manage high-volume incoming and outgoing calls, routing them accurately and efficiently Facilitate hospital-wide communication, including paging staff and relaying urgent messages Assist patients and visitors with inquiries related to services, appointments, and general information Respond to and process emergency codes, coordinating with hospital command center and key personnel Accurately collect and document caller information for follow-up and reporting Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff Monitor and respond to critical alarms, including fire, medical gas, and cardiac alerts Provide administrative support such as maintaining directories and assisting with scheduling information Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and patient privacy regulations Qualifications - External Your qualifications should include: High school diploma Minimum of 2 years of customer service experience in a call center, contact center, or PBX environment City of Hope is an equal opportunity employer.
