Job Description
The Dispatcher reports directly to the Operations Manager. The Dispatcher is responsible for the coordination of the utilization of drivers, trucks and containers to create capacity, maximize productivity and ensure prompt, courteous and efficient service to all customers. Job Description Oversee daily dispatch and routing operations to maximize productivity, operational efficiency, and effective utilization of drivers, assets, and equipment. Assign loads and routes based on driver location, route efficiency, and operational priorities while maintaining accurate route schedules and dispatch documentation. Ensure the accuracy of tonnage reports, load sheets, asset assignments, work orders, and routing data to support operational performance and compliance standards. Monitor route completion through driver check-ins and maintain detailed records of scheduled, missed, and additional pick-ups, route completions, and driver activity. Coordinate end-of-day assignments and operational follow-up tasks to ensure timely completion of all service and delivery objectives. Prepare and maintain all compliance reports in accordance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. Serve as a primary point of contact for customer inquiries and issue resolution, delivering professional and responsive customer service to maintain high satisfaction levels. Support and mentor drivers and helpers by reinforcing company expectations, safety standards, and operational procedures, while developing foundational leadership skills necessary for future advancement opportunities. Identify driver performance concerns or operational issues and communicate findings to management for timely resolution. Perform additional operational, administrative, and supervisory duties as assigned. Provide leadership and operational support as a backfill supervisor, assisting with training, team coordination, employee development, and departmental continuity. This position is designed as a developmental steppingstone into a future leadership role within the Operations Department, providing hands-on exposure to dispatch operations, employee management, customer service, compliance, and daily operational decision-making.
