Full-Time, On-Site Position Summary:
MDB Transportation is seeking an organized and dependable Dispatcher to support our daily transportation operations. This is an entry-level position that will assist the dispatch team with driver communication, load tracking, appointment coordination, data entry, and general administrative tasks. Previous dispatching experience is helpful but not required. Training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with daily load planning and driver assignments. Communicate with drivers to confirm their status and availability. Track pickups, deliveries, and appointment times. Keep the dispatch board and internal systems accurate and updated. Monitor loads and immediately report potential delays or service issues. Contact customers, warehouses, and terminals for load updates. Collect and organize bills of lading, delivery receipts, interchange documents, and other paperwork. Upload and maintain documents in the company's transportation management system. Confirm drivers have the correct addresses, reference numbers, appointment times, and load instructions. Assist with scheduling port, terminal, and warehouse appointments. Track equipment availability, including trucks, chassis, and containers. Help ensure empty and loaded containers are returned before applicable deadlines. Provide general administrative support to the operations team. Maintain professional communication with drivers, customers, and coworkers. Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous dispatching experience is not required. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and email. Comfortable learning transportation software and internal systems. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Clear written and verbal communication. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn. Ability to follow instructions and communicate problems quickly. Bilingual English and Spanish is preferred but not required. Transportation, trucking, warehouse, or customer service experience is a plus.
Performance Expectations:
Keep dispatch information accurate and current. Respond promptly to drivers and members of the operations team. Maintain accurate load and equipment information. Identify potential delays or problems and notify management immediately. Complete assigned tasks accurately and on time. Demonstrate consistent attendance, accountability, and professionalism.
