Electronic (Using your CalCareer Account) Job Description and Duties Under the general direction of the Supervising Transportation Engineer, Office Chief of Operations, the Dispatcher-Clerk Supervisor will supervise all District 12 Transportation Management Center (TMC) dispatching functions. The incumbent will supervise the dispatchers, ensuring procedures, laws, and regulations are met. The supervisor will train, approve/manage overtime, schedule works shifts, and hire new dispatchers. The supervisor will also perform the dispatcher's duties as necessary and perform a variety of clerical work consisting of typing, computer data entry, filing, and record keeping. Due to the confidentiality of information handled, all TMC staff are fingerprinted for a background check by the Department of Justice. Willingness and ability to work rotating shifts (including nights), weekends, holidays, and overtime as required. Vacations may be restricted during peak travel times, during storms, or when TMC is short-staffed. Work in close quarters with the keyboard and video display terminal. Candidates selected for this position must successfully pass a Department of Justice background check and the incumbent is also required to sign CHP Memorandum of Agreement Form 101A annually. The position requires meeting the minimum qualifications and the Civil Service eligibility for Dispatcher Clerk Supervisor position.
