Job Description

The Traffic Control Dispatch Assistant supports daily dispatch operations for traffic control crews serving utility and vegetation management projects. This role plays a key part in coordinating schedules, communicating with field teams, and ensuring Union 1245 members are deployed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with contract and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is highly organized, responsive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, operations-driven environment.
FLSA:
Non-Exempt Key Responsibilities:
Dispatch & Coordination o Assist in scheduling and dispatching traffic control crews to job sites based on project needs and priorities o Communicate daily assignments, changes, and updates to field personnel o Coordinate with supervisors, estimators, and clients to align crew deployment Union & Workforce Support o Support dispatch operations in alignment with Union 1245 agreements and workforce requirements o Maintain accurate records of union labor utilization, classifications, and hours o Serve as a point of contact for union members regarding scheduling and job assignments Communication o Act as a liaison between field crews, management, and clients o Monitor phones and digital communication platforms for real-time updates o Escalate urgent staffing or operational issues promptly Administrative Support o Maintain dispatch logs, schedules, and daily activity reports o Track job progress, crew locations, and completion statuses o Assist with timekeeping, data entry, and documentation compliance Safety & Compliance o Support adherence to traffic control safety standards and company policies o Ensure crews are properly assigned based on certifications and job requirements o Promote a culture of safety and accountability
Qualifications:
Required o High school diploma or equivalent o Strong organizational and multitasking skills o Excellent verbal and written communication o Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment o Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, scheduling systems, or similar tools) Preferred Qualifications o Minimum 1-year experience in dispatch, logistics, construction, or traffic control operations o Familiarity with union workforce environments (IBEW Local 1245 preferred) o Knowledge of traffic control standards (MUTCD) o Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus Key Competencies o Attention to detail o Problem-solving and adaptability o Time management and prioritization o Professional communication o Team collaboration Work Environment o Office-based with frequent communication with field personnel o Regular schedule will be 8am-4pm Monday-Friday, subject to business needs o May require early mornings, evenings, or occasional weekend support subject to business needs
Pay:
$25.00 - $28.00 per hour
