In this vital role, you will serve as the central communication hub, ensuring timely dispatching of freight, trucks, and drivers while maintaining seamless coordination across various logistics functions. Your proactive approach will help optimize routes, improve delivery accuracy, and enhance overall supply chain performance. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced transportation environment where clear communication and analytical skills drive success. Responsibilities Coordinate and schedule pickups and deliveries using transportation management systems (TMS) such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine. Utilize GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools to monitor vehicle locations, optimize routes, and ensure on-time deliveries. Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, warehouse staff, and clients via multi-line phone systems while maintaining professional phone etiquette. Enter accurate data related to freight movements, shipping & receiving logs, and dispatch records into relevant systems like AS400 and 3PL platforms. Monitor fleet management systems to track vehicle status, maintenance needs, and compliance with safety standards. Analyze transportation data to identify inefficiencies, suggest improvements, and support transportation planning initiatives. Manage shipping schedules, coordinate with freight carriers, and oversee logistics operations to ensure smooth flow of goods across the supply chain. Qualifications Proven experience in dispatching within a logistics or transportation environment; familiarity with freight operations is preferred. Strong knowledge of transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or similar platforms. Proficiency in using GPS devices, GIS software, and data entry tools like AS400 or SyteLine for accurate record keeping. Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally and courteously. Analytical skills to interpret transportation data, optimize routes, and support logistics decision-making processes. Familiarity with shipping & receiving procedures, fleet management practices, and 3PL (third-party logistics) operations. Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Basic typing skills for quick data entry; knowledge of transportation planning concepts is a plus.
