In this energetic role, you will serve as the central point of contact for law enforcement, emergency medical services, fire departments, and the public. Your expertise in emergency communication systems, GPS technology, and law enforcement procedures will help facilitate swift, accurate responses to incidents. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference in public safety operations while honing your technical and analytical skills. Responsibilities Receive and prioritize incoming calls from the public, first responders, and other agencies using multi-line phone systems and telephony equipment. Utilize Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) software to log incidents accurately and efficiently, ensuring all data entry is precise and timely. Coordinate emergency response efforts by dispatching police, fire, EMS, or other relevant units based on established police dispatch procedures and emergency medical dispatch protocols. Provide critical phone triage by assessing caller needs, offering first aid or CPR instructions when appropriate, and guiding responders during emergencies. Maintain clear communication through radio communication systems with law enforcement officers, emergency personnel, and other stakeholders to facilitate effective incident management. Conduct analysis of incident data to identify patterns or areas for improvement in response times or resource allocation. Manage conflict situations with professionalism using negotiation and conflict management skills while maintaining calmness under pressure. Document all interactions thoroughly through transcription and detailed reporting to ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Requirements . Strong customer service orientation combined with excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—and phone etiquette. Ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism while managing multi-line phone systems efficiently. Technical proficiency in telephony systems, data entry, transcription, typing speed, and familiarity with radio communication equipment. Demonstrated analysis skills with attention to detail for incident documentation and reporting. Experience working with law enforcement agencies or emergency services is highly desirable.
