Requirements :
Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Must be able to work shift work, rotating shifts, night shifts, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to work 12-hour shifts; Day Shift 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Night Shift 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. with a four-month rotation. Must be able to type 30 WPM, 90% accuracy. Must pass the Ergometrics ECOMM National Exam. Successfully pass a truth verification exam, drug screen, and audiometry exam. Must be able to multi-task and work within a high-stress environment. No tattoos on the head, face, neck, hands, or other areas that cannot be concealed. Tattoos must not be excessive or offensive in nature. Must be willing to give a three-year commitment to the Communications division.
Job Responsibilities:
Telecommunicator is responsible for answering, processing, prioritizing, and dispatching incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for service using a computer-aided dispatching system. A Telecommunicator is an essential part of the First Responders team that receives calls from the public concerning law enforcement, fire, or medical emergencies. The Telecommunicator evaluates the situation and decides which services to utilize by relaying instructions, asking questions, and obtaining pertinent information. The Telecommunicator will then notify the appropriate field personnel (Deputies, Firefighters, EMT's) of where to respond via radio while providing pertinent information about the call for service while entering data into the computer-aided dispatch system. This position requires dedicated personnel that have the ability to handle and manage emergency situations, work within a fast-paced environment, and have the ability to multitask.
Work Schedule:
Day Shift 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Night Shift 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. with a four-month rotation.
Salary:
