Job Description:
Utilizes a working knowledge of the service areas and takes the most direct route to reach a destination. Effectively communicates delays and updates to dispatch, and reports any damage or vehicle issues. Helps in completing supply and equipment inventories each shift, restocking as needed. Communicates appropriate and accurate information through radio and telephone communications on the recorded line. Operates emergency vehicles safely in a variety of weather and emergent conditions. Keeps the work environment clean and organized, refuels as per department protocol, and ensures the unit is in a constant state of readiness. Ensures patient documentation is accurate, complete and complies at all times. Relays patient updates to supervisors, medical control, transport teams, sending and receiving facilities, physicians. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Telephone and radio communications skills [Required] Basic computer skills [Required] Understanding of EMS operations [Required] High quality driving skills [Required]
Education:
Associate [Preferred] High School Grad or Equiv [Required] Technical/Vocational School [Preferred]
Field of Study:
in health-related field Graduate of EMT program
Work Experience:
1+ pre-hospital or emergency dept. experience [Preferred] Dispatch or transfer center experience upon hire [Required]
