IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR
LBM Manager
BASIC FUNCTION
Responsible for the management of shipping and receiving operations along with supervision of the lumberyard. Works to ensure the safety, accuracy and cost-effectiveness of all procedures in the delivery process.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the daily tasks of pulling orders, receiving incoming deliveries, routing deliveries and pick-ups and stocking materials in the yard. Supervise the loading of trucks in the yard along with the checking of all materials leaving the yard ensuring all loads are checked for accuracy. Efficiently and safely route deliveries to provide the best possible customer service while minimizing costs (payroll, mileage, etc.). Supervise, manage and train yard staff according to job descriptions, procedures and schedules. Ensure all personnel have completed established training guidelines and complete ongoing training as required for their specific job. Coordinate personnel issues with HR Manager (reviews, new employee orientation, staffing and disciplinary issues). Monitor and ensure the safe and proper usage of all yard equipment (lifts, trucks, banding machines, saws, etc.). Review and implement training procedures to ensure safe and correct operation of equipment at all times. Take action as necessary to ensure equipment is maintained in safe working condition (daily checklists, repair lists, etc.). Ensure repair work on equipment is done in a cost-effective, thorough and timely manner. Maintain truck and equipment maintenance logs. Ensure receiving and delivery paperwork is completed correct and turned in according to procedure. Report inventory errors, shortages or problems to Buyer or office staff. Minimize inventory loss and shrinkage by maintaining a neat and orderly yard area, verifying the accuracy of incoming and outgoing deliveries and working with yard personnel to reduce losses. Coordinate and inspect returned goods for credit. Report any problematic or questionable returns to Operations Manager immediately. Ensure compliance with company, insurance, and OSHA safety and workplace regulations. Assist in other areas of the LBM dept as directed by company management. Work to enhance the overall profitability, efficiency and sales success of the organization. Communicate with outside sales staff for directions to job sites and status of pick-ups, deliveries and back-orders. Uphold Hill's mission statement in all facets of daily work. WORK SCHEDULE
Monday - Friday. Occasional weekends as required.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or general equivalency degree (GED) preferred
EXPERIENCE
Two years experience in lumberyard operations position.
DAILY TASKS
Coordinate shipping, pulling, and loading of deliveries Check-in incoming deliveries as needed; understand PO receiving procedure Ensure customer service standards are met in yard, supervise customer loaders Minimize inventory shrinkage through cycle counts, supervision of correct loading procedures, and correct billing of materials Review RGN's, coding, approving all returns Ensure daily P/M checks are all completed. Coordinate equipment repairs as necessary. Ensure special orders are received correctly, tagged, and stored safely for delivery Coordinate dispatching operations w/ other location. Ensure closing checklist and safety procedures are followed by all LBM staff.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
Ability to read and write. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Good math skills. Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to read and understand maps and give directions. Good interpersonal, communication and Customer Service skills. Knowledge of building materials products and lumber. Basic computer skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sitting and standing for long periods of time along with extensive walking. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Work inside and outside the store.
Schedule:
Monday to Friday - very occasional weekend if required
Pay:
$75,000.00 per year
