GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
The Dispatcher – Towing and Sales directs and coordinates vessel operations activities for the Towing Division of the Company. This position will be responsible for but not limited to: dispatching and monitoring all vessel movements, coordination with barge dispatch to ensure successful execution of barge freight and charter contracts, managing vendor relations including negotiation of rates and vendor contracts, provide direction for support staff to meet the administrative and financial goals of the Towing Division, coordinating with sales department to meet customer expectations, and utilize vessel and barge assets in most efficient manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Gather and record daily vessel logs. Dispatch vessels to meet both outside customer and internal barge team expectations in the most efficient and cost-effective manner. Daily communications with outside towing customers to keep them informed of barge movement progress. Daily communications with vessel support vendors to keep them informed of vessel timings to ensure efficient vessel operations. Offer guidance and assistance to resolve customer and/or vendor issues. Monitor barge load and unload activity for company owned barges to offer guidance to barge dispatch on upcoming vessel timings while maximizing available towing capacity for the vessel(s). Monitor river levels and tow size/barge draft mandates set forth by industry/USCG representatives and share this information with barge dispatch in order to maximize tonnage per loading by loading to maximum allowable drafts. Efficiently manage logistical aspects of vessel maintenance operations to minimize vessel downtime. Promote and manage vendor relations to meet goals of the company, including negotiation and administration of rates and contracts. Maintain all operations activity in company database. Coordination with sales team to ensure customer expectations are being met. Coordination with accounting department to ensure all information necessary for billing is complete and accurate. Ensure that the Towing Division meets the regulatory reporting requirements with, but not limited to, the United States Coast Guard and United States EPA Be aware of what is going on in all other dispatch areas and be prepared to step in and help out if needed. Participate in weekend call and Holiday rotation Provide necessary information to accounting department for approval of vendor invoices. Assist with monthly accounting accruals. A certain amount of travel is required to meet, form and maintain relationships with Heartland's customers and vendors. Assist with various administrative and supervisory functions as directed.
Pay:
$80,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
