Job Summary Join our dedicated emergency response team as a 911 Dispatcher, where your quick thinking and compassionate communication will be the backbone of public safety. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for callers in distress, providing critical assistance and dispatching emergency services promptly and efficiently. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will ensure that every call is handled with professionalism, clarity, and urgency, making a real difference in people's lives during their most challenging moments. Responsibilities Answer multi-line phone systems with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and communication skills. Gather essential information from callers through active listening, phone triage, and clear questioning to assess the nature of emergencies accurately. Utilize GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and GPS technology to determine precise locations for dispatching law enforcement, fire, or medical units swiftly. Dispatch appropriate emergency responders while maintaining constant communication to coordinate efforts effectively. Enter data accurately into dispatch software, including incident details, caller information, and response updates. Provide calm and effective negotiation and conflict management during high-stress situations to de-escalate callers when necessary. Maintain detailed records through transcription and data entry tasks, ensuring all logs are complete and compliant with protocols. Monitor security systems and analyze incoming information to prioritize responses efficiently. Requirements Prior experience in EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) services or related medical fields is highly desirable. However not a requirement Familiarity with GIS mapping tools, GPS technology, and multi-line phone systems is essential for accurate dispatching. Knowledge of law enforcement procedures, medical terminology, first aid protocols, and security practices enhances your effectiveness in this role. Strong analysis skills to evaluate incoming information rapidly and make sound decisions under pressure. Excellent communication skills with a professional demeanor; ability to remain calm and composed during emergencies. Proficient typing speed for efficient data entry and transcription tasks; attention to detail is crucial. Ability to handle conflict situations diplomatically while managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
