On-the-job training will be provided with opportunities for certification and continuing education. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Utilize a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system to manage emergency calls and texts. Dispatch police, fire, and ambulance units based on established procedures. Monitor multiple public safety radio frequencies and track unit locations. Perform clerical tasks such as record keeping and data entry. Handle confidential information with high integrity. Ability to handle high-stress, fast-paced situations. Extended periods of sitting in a confined space, with the ability to occasionally lift over 50 pounds.

Requirements:

High school diploma or G.E.D. Valid Kansas Driver's License Must pass pre-employment drug screening, background check, job placement assessment, and a 70% minimum score on the National Dispatcher Selection Test Applicants may reside outside of the city, subject to response times as administratively determined and required for the department, which is a 20-minute response time No residency requirement, but a 20-minute response time for on-call/emergency situations is required.
