911 Dispatcher Are you looking for a stable, full-time position in a community-focused environment? The City of Russell is seeking professional, reliable, and communityoriented individuals to join our team as a 911 Disptacher. This position provides a vital, life-saving service to our community by coordinating emergency efforts and working closely with public safety teams. We Are One Russell. The City of Russell offers a comprehensive package, including: Family health Family Dental and Vision Insurance KPERS Retirement Program Various optional benefit programs Paid Vacation and Sick leave The Position (Under the combined supervision of the 911 Director and the 911 Assistant Director) This is a full-time position that requires shift work, involving both nights, weekends, and holidays. On-the-job training will be provided with opportunities for certification and continuing education. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Utilize a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system to manage emergency calls and texts. Dispatch police, fire, and ambulance units based on established procedures. Monitor multiple public safety radio frequencies and track unit locations. Perform clerical tasks such as record keeping and data entry. Handle confidential information with high integrity. Ability to handle high-stress, fast-paced situations. Extended periods of sitting in a confined space, with the ability to occasionally lift over 50 pounds.
Requirements:
High school diploma or G.E.D. Valid Kansas Driver's License Must pass pre-employment drug screening, background check, job placement assessment, and a 70% minimum score on the National Dispatcher Selection Test Applicants may reside outside of the city, subject to response times as administratively determined and required for the department, which is a 20-minute response time No residency requirement, but a 20-minute response time for on-call/emergency situations is required.
