Job Description

The Town of Mashpee Police Department welcomes applications for a full time Public Safety Dispatcher; $29.33/hour - $31.10/hour commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position works 40 hours/week including nights, weekends and holidays.
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of age eighteen (18); High school diploma or equivalent; experience in dealing with the public preferred; experience in emergency dispatching for police and/or fire strongly preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training or experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. Current APCO Telecommunicator, PowerPhone, or equivalent preferred. Must be skilled in the operation of multiple radio, computer and other telecommunications equipment; ability to handle emergency situations calmly, promptly and efficiently; ability to endure extended periods of high activity high stress situations. Must be able to perform shift work and work periodic mandatory overtime. Candidates will be required to successfully complete an oral board interview, hands-on radio communication test, appointing authority interview, comprehensive background investigation, and medical examination. All candidates must successfully serve a minimum of a one (1) year probationary period.
Responsibilities:
Receives and manages all emergency, non-emergency and general business calls received by the Police Department; dispatches the correct public safety/public service response based upon the available information and departmental policies and procedures; records incident activity and provides information and other support to responding units. Performs other collateral duties as assigned.
