Dispatcher

Description We are looking for a skilled Dispatcher to join our team in Lansing, Michigan, within the transport industry. In this Contract to permanent position, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless communication and coordination among drivers, schools, and other stakeholders. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and excel at multitasking, this opportunity is perfect for you. This is a M-F, split shift, 6am-10am then 1pm-5pm. 100% onsite.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate daily transportation schedules and ensure timely dispatching of vehicles.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, customers, and other stakeholders using two-way radios and multi-line phone systems.
• Respond promptly to inquiries and resolve any transportation-related issues with professionalism.
• Monitor routes and make necessary adjustments to optimize efficiency and safety.
• Maintain accurate records of schedules, communications, and service updates.
• Collaborate with public schools to meet transportation needs and adhere to specific requirements.
• Handle high-pressure situations calmly and provide clear instructions to transportation staff.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and local regulations.
• Deliver excellent customer service, maintaining a positive rapport with clients and team members.
• Assist in training and supporting new dispatch staff as needed. Requirements
• Proven experience in dispatching or a related role.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle inquiries and resolve issues professionally.
• Familiarity with public school transportation systems is a plus.
• Proficiency in operating two-way radios and multi-line phone systems.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing demands.
• Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.
