Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Full-Time Emergency Response Dispatcher to join our dynamic construction and transportation team. In this vital role, you will coordinate emergency responses and manage dispatch operations for a railroad contractor, ensuring swift and effective communication during critical incidents. Your expertise will help maintain safety, compliance, and operational efficiency across our rail network. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of transportation safety and logistics, supporting emergency management efforts with precision and professionalism. Duties Act as the primary point of contact for emergency response coordination related to railroad contractor incidents, utilizing phone call management and internal communication channels. Monitor and respond promptly to emergency alerts, dispatching appropriate personnel and resources. Utilize GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and GPS technology to accurately locate incidents, track assets, and support transportation planning efforts. Maintain detailed logs of all communications, dispatch activities, and incident reports, ensuring data entry accuracy for compliance and analysis purposes. Collaborate with internal teams including logistics, supply chain management, fleet management, and road transportation operations to facilitate efficient incident resolution. Ensure adherence to DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations during all dispatching activities and maintain compliance with safety standards. Provide exceptional customer service by managing phone etiquette professionally while coordinating freight shipments, shipping & receiving operations, and freight movement across the network. Requirements Proven experience in dispatching within transportation or logistics environments, preferably involving rail or road transportation operations. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in high-pressure situations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel), data entry, and analysis skills for reporting purposes. Knowledge of supply chain processes, freight handling, shipping & receiving procedures, and fleet management practices. Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—and phone etiquette essential for internal communication and customer interactions. Ability to interpret GIS data, GPS tracking information, and analyze logistical data to support transportation planning decisions. Understanding of DOT regulations related to railroads and road transportation operations; ability to ensure compliance at all times.
