Job Summary Join our dedicated emergency response team as a 911 Telecommunicator, where your quick thinking and compassionate communication can make a life-saving difference. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for emergency calls, providing critical assistance and dispatching appropriate services swiftly and efficiently. Your expertise in handling high-pressure situations, combined with excellent communication skills, will ensure that every caller receives the support they need during their most vulnerable moments. Responsibilities Answer multi-line phone systems promptly and professionally, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and conflict management skills. Gather essential information from callers through effective phone triage, including details about medical emergencies, accidents, or criminal activity. Utilize GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and GPS technology to accurately locate incidents and direct first responders efficiently. Dispatch law enforcement, fire, medical personnel, or other emergency services based on assessed needs, ensuring rapid response times. Maintain detailed data entry and transcription records of all calls, incidents, and dispatch activities with high accuracy and attention to detail. Provide calm negotiation and reassurance to distressed callers while analyzing the situation to determine appropriate actions. Apply medical terminology knowledge and first aid protocols when necessary to guide callers through basic life-saving procedures until help arrives. Experience Strong analysis skills are essential for assessing situations quickly and accurately under pressure. Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—are critical for effective interaction with callers and responders alike. Ability to handle stressful situations with professionalism, patience, and empathy while managing conflict or difficult callers effectively.
