This position requires a calm demeanor, quick thinking, and the ability to multitask in high-pressure situations. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and be adept at using various dispatching technologies. Responsibilities Receive and prioritize emergency calls for assistance from the public. Utilize GPS and GIS technology to determine the location of incidents and dispatch appropriate resources. Conduct phone triage to assess the urgency of situations and provide critical information to responders. Enter data accurately into dispatch systems while maintaining detailed logs of all communications. Analyze incoming information to make informed decisions regarding resource allocation. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and medical services to coordinate effective responses. Maintain knowledge of local geography, streets, and landmarks to assist in efficient routing. Provide first aid instructions over the phone when necessary until help arrives. Requirements Previous experience in dispatching or a related field is preferred. Proficiency in data entry with a high level of accuracy. Familiarity with GPS systems and GIS mapping tools is advantageous. Ability to analyze information quickly and make sound decisions under pressure. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Certification in emergency dispatching or related training is a plus. Knowledge of first aid principles is beneficial. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. This role is essential for maintaining public safety and requires a dedicated individual committed to serving the community effectively.
