Full Job Description Job Overview:
Valexity Technologies is seeking a reliable, technically skilled Dispatch Technician to provide onsite IT support for clients throughout the Chicago area, based out of our Hanover Park office. This hands-on role covers hardware and network troubleshooting, working independently in client environments, and representing Valexity professionally at every visit — making you one of our primary points of contact with customers. The service area covers a 40-mile radius around Hanover Park/Chicago area; a company vehicle is provided for client visits and business travel, to be picked up and dropped off at our office. Professionalism, reliability, and strong communication are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, repair, and troubleshoot Windows PCs, laptops, servers, and peripherals, including diagnosing and replacing hardware components (RAM, SSDs, hard drives, network adapters, power supplies). Install, configure, and troubleshoot network infrastructure — switches, firewalls, routers, and wireless access points — including wired/wireless connectivity, IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and basic firewall issues. Perform workstation deployments, hardware upgrades, server maintenance, and technology replacements, including network cabling, patching, and cable tracing. Provide onsite end-user, application, printer, and connectivity support, communicating technical issues and solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical users. Accurately document work performed, configuration changes, and customer interactions in the ticketing system, following established technical procedures, security standards, and documentation requirements. Maintain a professional, customer-focused presence at client sites, and manage onsite assignments efficiently — communicating status, delays, and additional needs to the Valexity team.
Qualifications:
Strong troubleshooting experience with Windows PCs and computer hardware. Intermediate understanding of network infrastructure, including TCP/IP, IPv4, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, gateways, and LAN troubleshooting — both physical and logical connectivity issues. Experience with switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, patch panels, and Ethernet cabling. Working knowledge of Windows Server and server hardware; basic knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy; familiarity with Hyper-V or VMware. Ability to read basic network diagrams and technical documentation. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and customer service abilities. Ability to work independently in client environments. Valid driver's license and ability to operate a company-provided work vehicle.
Desirable Skills:
Previous MSP or IT services experience. Experience with managed switches, firewalls, wireless platforms, and structured cabling. Experience with server hardware, RAID, storage, and remote management interfaces. Familiarity with RMM, PSA, and ticketing systems. Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, or similar technical certifications. Experience performing client technology deployments, office moves, or infrastructure upgrades. Experience troubleshooting printers, VoIP phones, and other business peripherals. Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 and cloud-based business applications.
Hours:
Monday-Friday, 8am - 5pm CST, with some flexible scheduling due to client needs. Some weekend work may be required.
