Available Benefits Help for . R21630 The EMS Dispatcher functions as the primary communicator between requesting parties and ground ambulance personnel during critical periods. Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
Answer 911 calls and quickly establish case entry input into the CAD and ProQA and quickly dispatch the appropriate units
Coordinates the dispatching and notification of appropriate personnel and agencies during requests for ambulance assistance
Coordinates the local and regional communication needs of EMS agencies during mass casualty incidents within the South Plains region
May be required to prepare reports on equipment status, inventory, etc. on a daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly basis
All other assigned duties related to Lubbock EMS Priority Dispatching Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED
Successful completion of the Lubbock EMS Basic Telecommunicator course within 60 days of hire into the role
Successful completion of the Lubbock EMS Priority Dispatch EMD course within 60 days of hire into the role Skills and Abilities
Must possess the ability to maintain sound judgement during telephone interrogation, unit selection, and dispatching during periods of physical and emotional stress
Ability to initiate and complete dispatching and vehicle crew tracking procedures
Computer literacy; Ability to type 40 wpm with a high degree of accuracy
Knowledge of CAD helpful
Knowledge of the Lubbock geographical areas or the ability to effectively read GPS coordinates Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This position will interact with patients, their family members, health care providers, members of public safety and law enforcement personnel, students, volunteers, and fellow employees Physical Capabilities
Work requires sitting for extended periods of time. Talking and listening is essential. Acuity of speech, vision, and hearing is essential for success in this role. Able to lift 20lbs Environmental/Working Conditions
