Transportation Dispatcher Job Summary Experienced transportation dispatcher responsible for coordinating daily freight operations, managing driver assignments, and ensuring on-time pickup and delivery of customer shipments. Skilled at communicating with drivers, customers, and internal teams to optimize routes, resolve service issues, and maintain compliance with safety regulations and company policies. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment while balancing multiple priorities and delivering exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities Coordinate daily transportation schedules and assign loads to drivers based on availability, equipment, and delivery requirements. Monitor shipment progress and provide real-time updates to customers and internal stakeholders. Communicate with drivers regarding route changes, delays, weather conditions, and operational issues. Optimize routes and equipment utilization to maximize efficiency and reduce operating costs. Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Hours of Service (HOS), and company safety standards. Resolve delivery issues, equipment breakdowns, and service disruptions quickly and effectively. Maintain accurate dispatch records, load documentation, and driver logs using transportation management systems (TMS). Work closely with fleet managers, warehouse personnel, and customer service teams to meet delivery commitments. Monitor driver performance and provide support to improve service quality and operational efficiency. Respond to customer inquiries and provide timely solutions to transportation-related concerns. Qualifications Experience in transportation, logistics, or fleet dispatching. Knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours of Service requirements, and transportation safety practices. Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with transportation management systems (TMS), GPS tracking software, Microsoft Office, and dispatch software. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to build positive working relationships with drivers, customers, and cross-functional teams.
