Job Description

DUTY TITLE
Emergency Communications Dispatcher Windham County Sheriff's Office 185 Old Ferry Rd. Brattleboro, VT (In-Person) The Windham County Sheriff's Office, is seeking an Emergency Communications Dispatchers to join our team. WCSO provides 24/7 emergency dispatch services for the Windham County Sheriff's Office and the Bellows Falls Police Department. We are hiring for two part-time positions. We're looking for reliable, detail-oriented professionals who thrive in fast-paced environments and can make sound decisions under pressure. Minimum Qualifications Minimum 1 year of prior experience in a public safety dispatch or communications center Must be at least 18 years of age High school diploma or equivalent Strong verbal communication, decision-making, and multitasking skills Computer and typing proficiency required Ability to remain calm, professional, and focused in high-stress situations Must be available to work overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts as needed Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality Must successfully pass a background investigation, criminal history check, and motor vehicle records check Primary Responsibilities Answer and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls for service Dispatch law enforcement and other emergency responders as appropriate Operate multi-line phone systems, two-way radios, and dispatch software Accurately document all calls and incidents in real time Monitor and operate facility CCTV systems Utilize
NCIC/VCIC
teletype systems for inter-agency communications Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of Windham County and surrounding areas Communicate clearly, courteously, and effectively with the public and partner agencies Participate in ongoing training to maintain required skills and certifications Work overtime or on-call shifts as necessary to maintain adequate coverage Additional Requirements Previous experience in customer service, public safety, or emergency communications preferred Valid driver's license required Schedule Standard 8-hour shifts Flexibility required for day, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts On-call shifts may be assigned as needed
Compensation and Benefits Starting Pay:
