1.00 Grant Funded Position?: No Description of Job Duties and Responsibilities The Dispatcher is a critical position responsible for receiving, screening and responding to incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for public safety assistance within the University community, and serving as the after-hours contact for the University.
Duties:
Makes referrals to University support and medical services as required and as necessary; Operations training through WV State Police to obtain / maintain WEAPON (West Virginia Automated Police Network) training as needed. Run license plate, driver's license checks, NCIC, III, when needed. Assigns appropriate public safety units to respond to emergencies and other types of calls for service while maintaining necessary communication with units during their response; Log officer calls into reporting system. Coordinates operations with other University departments as well as outside agencies, including but not limited to public health departments, social services, medical providers, other police agencies, fire departments, emergency medical services and public utilities. Performs a variety of clerical, record-keeping and general support duties related to communications activities. Monitor Simplex system for alarms. Maintain Campus lost and found Monitor parking decal system for campus, including taking and entering of accurate information and issuing decals. Performs related duties as necessary and as assigned. The University Police Department Dispatch Center provides services seven days a week/24 hours a day. A dispatcher is expected to be available to work any shift (day, evening and night), as well as weekends. Minimum Required Education Minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Required Licenses and/or Certifications NA Minimum Required Qualifications At least one year of work experience in customer service.
