An Emergency Management Director plans and directs disaster response or crisis management activities, primarily for state and local governments. Directs preparation of emergency plans and disaster preparedness training. Surveys community resources available for emergencies, provides outreach to community groups and businesses on disaster and/or emergency response plans and procedures.
The primary purpose of the Emergency Management Specialist position is to manage the university-wide emergency planning program, to include maintaining the university's Emergency Operations Plan, Recovery Plan, Hazard Mitigation Plan, and Continuity of Operations Planning. The position will serve in the absence of the Emergency Management Director during activation's of the Emergency Operations Center or incident response.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or and equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred:
Bachelor's degree in a Emergency Management, Disaster Management, Public Administration, or equivalent experience in emergency management. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to bachelor's degree in emergency management, homeland security, public administration or a related emergency service field and three years of experience in emergency management, emergency preparedness, or other emergency services field. FEMA course work is preferred ( ICS 100, 200, 700, 300, 400). If no applicants apply who meet the required competency level and training and experience requirements, then management may consider other applicants. Salary would be determined based on competencies, equity, budget, and market considerations.
