Position Overview Primary Purpose of Position The primary purpose of the Emergency Management Specialist position is to manage the university-wide emergency planning program, to include maintaining the university's Emergency Operations Plan, Recovery Plan, Hazard Mitigation Plan, and Continuity of Operations Planning. The position will serve in the absence of the Emergency Management Director during activation's of the Emergency Operations Center or incident response. Primary Function of Organizational Unit The primary purpose of the Department of Public Safety is to support the University's mission of teaching, research, and public service by providing comprehensive public safety, security, law enforcement, emergency management, and related support services. The department is responsible for protecting life and property; enforcing the laws of the State of North Carolina and applicable University policies; safeguarding University assets; maintaining and supporting critical safety and security systems; enhancing the safety and security of the campus community; and ensuring preparedness for emergencies and critical incidents. Through proactive policing, crime prevention, emergency preparedness, threat assessment, security operations, emergency communications, the management of critical safety and security systems, and collaborative partnerships, the Department of Public Safety fosters a safe, secure, and resilient environment that supports learning, research, work, and campus life across North Carolina A&T State University and its affiliated properties. Work Hours 8AM-5PM Monday- Friday.
