Job Description

Full-Time | Gulf Coast Region | Mobile, AL As the Area Facilities Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the physical plant operations of multiple QSL communities. This includes maintenance, repair, safety, and housekeeping functions. You will act as a regional expert and leader, ensuring all facilities are maintained to the highest standard of safety, comfort, and aesthetic appeal.
Key Responsibilities:
Travel regularly between assigned communities (approx. 75% travel within the region acting as the Director of Facility Maintenance. Approx 25% travel acting as Area Director) to assess, support, and guide maintenance operations. While traveling as DFM, the Facilities Specialist will be expected to complete maintenance related tasks as needed. Ensure all facilities meet or exceed company standards for cleanliness, safety, preventative maintenance, and regulatory compliance (OSHA, fire safety, etc.). Conduct audits and property inspections to identify maintenance needs, safety risks, or deferred maintenance issues. Collaborate with vendors and contractors on capital projects and repairs, ensuring quality work and cost control. Assist in emergency preparedness planning and lead or support regular safety drills and compliance initiatives. Serve as a technical advisor for on-site teams, offering troubleshooting support for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, appliances, and other systems.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
High School Diploma or GED required; vocational training or certifications in HVAC, electrical, or building trades strongly preferred. Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in facility maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or multi-site leadership role. Prior experience in senior living, hospitality, healthcare, or multi-family housing preferred. Demonstrated experience with OSHA, ADA, life safety codes, and emergency preparedness.
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to travel extensively throughout the region (valid driver's license and reliable transportation required). Strong working knowledge of building systems: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security/fire systems, and commercial appliances. Ability to manage multiple priorities and communities simultaneously. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficient in reviewing blueprints, manuals, and safety protocols. Ability to identify and solve practical problems; confident in making operational decisions. Skilled in vendor negotiation and contractor oversight. Must be comfortable performing physical tasks and assisting in hands-on repair or maintenance as needed. Why Join Us?
