Purpose:
The Security & Facilities Coordinator oversees and maintains Caritas Academy's safety and security policies and procedures. This role provides support to the educational process with specific responsibilities for the safety and welfare of students, staff, and community members on the school campus. The Caritas Security & Facilities Coordinator serves on the school's administration team, supporting general campus care, functions, and security. The role includes managing daily campus operations, including opening/closing procedures, student drop-off and pick-up, training the staff, conducting emergency response drills, perimeter checks, supervising recess & lunch duty, and management of the school security system. Additionally, the Facilities and Security Coordinator helps with basic school functions such as setting up and tearing down for classroom activities, lunch, and events. General Responsibilities Communicates safety and security policies and procedures to students, staff, and visitors. Oversee the implementation and maintenance of the school's emergency response plan and manage relatedadministrative tasks. Assist administrators in the enforcement of all school regulations and state laws. Serve as a primary member of the Emergency Response Team. Keep apprised of the latest and most effective security strategies and protocols; be informed of state/federal lawsthat impact school operations. Assists with the coordination and facilitation of safety and security meetings and training for staff and volunteers. Oversee new hire safety & security training and onboarding for campus volunteers. Oversee all staff and volunteer certifications and screenings. Liaise with local law enforcement and emergency services providers. Update and refine the Emergency Operations Manual as needed.
Daily Operations:
Implements open/close procedures. Utilizes protocols and oversees campus visitor processes. Patrols school facilities for the purpose of providing visibility and maintaining safety and security. Monitors all persons on campus at drop off, pickup, and at campus events. Conduct perimeter checks around the campus, confirming entry and exit points are closed and locked. Conduct emergency drills (Fire, Secure Perimeter, Lockdown, Evacuation). Manage SimpliSafe school security system and check Cameras, event log, device status (panic buttons), etc. Responds to a variety of situations for the purpose of taking the appropriate action to resolve immediate safetyand/or security concerns. Assists the administration with the handling of all campus incidents. Other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring campus safety and security.
Campus Presence:
Required to have prompt, regular attendance on campus during school hours, and for special events/school functions. Assists with campus activities as needed. Conducts recess/lunch duty as scheduled.
Facilities:
Help set up and tear down campus events and school functions. Provide general maintenance as able/appropriate. Liaison with contractors to repair or install campus systems. Coordinate with church staff regarding major facility repairs or jobs.
Qualifications:
Be in agreement with and willing to uphold the Caritas Academy Mission and Statement of Faith. Be active in a local church, with a substantial record of service and leadership in the body of Christ. Live a Christian lifestyle that demonstrates a Christian worldview in all aspects of life. Be passionate about ensuring the safety and security of Caritas students and staff. Demonstrates an excitement and joy in working with children and the school community; views the role as a ministry opportunity. Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations. Ability to handle confrontation and conflict without an emotional response. Knowledge of security-related practices and procedures; knowledge of industry standards is helpful. Demonstrates a high level of situational awareness and ability to exercise sound judgment. Comfortable working in a fast-paced school office environment, with evolving needs and frequent interruptions. High level of integrity and proven track record of being reliable and accountable. Knowledge of rules and standards of acceptable student conduct, health, and safety. Successful completion of the security training program after onboarding. Demonstrates an intermediate level of repair and maintenance skills. Industry experience is preferred, but not required.
Special Certifications/Licenses:
