DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS
Position Overview :
In this role, you will oversee all daily operations of the detention facility while ensuring the safe, secure, and efficient management of detention, security, healthcare, transportation, maintenance, administrative, and support service operations. You will provide executive-level leadership and operational oversight to department managers, supervisors, and facility personnel while ensuring compliance with government detention standards, contractual requirements, company policies, and applicable regulations. This position requires strong leadership, decision-making abilities, operational management experience, and the ability to effectively manage complex detention operations within a secure detention environment while maintaining professionalism, accountability, and operational readiness. Responsibilities :
Oversee all detention facility operations including security, resident management, healthcare services, transportation, maintenance, food service, administration, and operational support functions. Supervise department managers, supervisors, and facility leadership personnel while supporting staffing, scheduling, performance management, and operational accountability activities. Ensure all facility operations comply with government detention standards, contractual obligations, company policies, safety procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Monitor operational performance, staffing levels, resident management activities, emergency preparedness, and facility security procedures to maintain safe and efficient operations. Conduct facility inspections, operational assessments, compliance reviews, and leadership meetings to identify deficiencies, safety concerns, or operational improvement opportunities. Respond to emergencies, critical incidents, resident disturbances, medical events, security breaches, and operational disruptions while coordinating appropriate response procedures and resources. Review incident reports, staffing reports, operational summaries, compliance documentation, financial information, and departmental performance metrics for accuracy and accountability. Coordinate communication and operational activities with government representatives, outside agencies, contractors, healthcare providers, legal personnel, and company leadership. Support audits, inspections, accreditation reviews, compliance assessments, and investigations conducted by government representatives or regulatory agencies. Manage operational resources, facility budgets, staffing allocations, procurement activities, and equipment accountability to ensure operational readiness and efficiency. Develop and implement operational procedures, corrective action plans, policy updates, and strategic initiatives to improve facility performance and compliance. Maintain professionalism, leadership, sound judgment, and effective communication while supporting safe, secure, and compliant detention facility operations. Qualifications :
Must possess an accredited Bachelor s degree in an appropriate discipline, or significant military or corrections experience of a minimum 15 years. The degree requirement may be satisfied by completion of a career development program that includes work related experience, training, or college credits at a level of achievement equivalent to the bachelor s degree, as practiced in the federal hiring process. Must possess at least five (5) years of related administrative experience, and have knowledge of program objectives, policies, procedures, and requirements for managing a secure detention/correctional facility. Must be able to provide proof of citizenship or legal US work authorization. If prior active-duty military, must provide copies of DD214(s) showing discharge condition. Must consent to fingerprinting. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security screening. Ability to pass a preemployment medical assessment and drug screening. Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills. Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations. Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Work Environment :
Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise. Physical Requirements :
Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach. Employees may be also required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies. Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
