Electronic (Using your CalCareer Account) Job Description and Duties Under the general supervision of the Supervisor of Correctional Education Programs, the Supervisor of Academic Instruction (SAI) has the responsibility to assist in the planning, development, and implementation of programs, on-site monitoring and evaluation of education programs, and reviewing educational processes and making recommendations on teaching resources and instructional methods. Additionally, the SAI assists with education teacher hiring, staff development, and program implementation. The SAI participates with educational and custodial staff in finding effective solutions to education programming issues, the development of timely resolutions, and in the identification of exemplary educational procedures. This job posting is being used to fill two permanent, full-time Supervisor of Academic Instruction, Correctional Facility positions. The vacancies will be filled in accordance with implemented hiring restrictions. The Valley State Adult School operates on a 220-Day Academic Calendar. The work hours for these positions are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Please note - This recruitment may also be used to fill future vacancies, if additional positions become available. Work schedules for other positions may be 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM or 12:30 PM to 8:30 PM. You must have taken and passed the appropriate examination for this classification, be a current state employee with lateral transfer eligibility, or have reinstatement eligibility in order to apply for this position. Individuals who are eligible for a Training and Development assignment may also be considered for this position(s). Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented.
PLP 2025
requires that each full-time employee receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours of
