This position focuses on helping incarcerated and recently released individuals develop practical career readiness skills, digital literacy, and workplace competencies needed to secure employment and pursue further education. The Transition Specialist provides instruction in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel), job search skills, resume development, workplace communication, and employment preparation. The instructor supports students in building confidence, professional skills, and the technological knowledge required in today's workforce. In this role, you will work directly with justice-involved individuals, helping them develop real-world skills that support successful reintegration into the community. We are seeking a compassionate and motivated educator who believes in the power of workforce education to transform lives. Key Responsibilities Deliver career readiness and workforce development instruction to incarcerated and recently released individuals. Teach Microsoft Office applications including Word & Excel. Provide training in digital literacy and computer basics. Support students with resume writing, job search strategies, interview preparation, and workplace communication skills. Assist students in identifying career goals and pathways to employment or training programs. Assist recently released individuals with college and training program applications, including guidance on completing financial aid applications (FAFSA) and understanding available education pathways. Facilitate job search support sessions for walk-in clients, helping individuals navigate job boards, complete online job applications, develop resumes, and prepare for employment opportunities. Provide individualized support and coaching based on students' career interests and skill levels. Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, and progress. Provide guidance on community education programs, vocational training, and reentry employment resources. Maintain organized instructional materials and follow all correctional facility security protocols. Skills Required Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong computer literacy including Windows and internet navigation. Knowledge of career readiness training, workforce development, or job placement support. Strong communication, coaching, and teaching skills. Ability to motivate and support individuals facing employment barriers. Strong organizational skills and accurate data entry abilities. Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred, or Associate degree with relevant workforce development or teaching experience. Experience in career training, workforce development, or adult education highly desirable. Experience working with justice-involved populations is a plus. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment. Demonstrated commitment to supporting individuals facing employment barriers. Reliable transportation for travel within Modesto, CA. Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening; eligibility for access to correctional facilities required. Bilingual Spanish skills are a plus but not required. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
