Job Description

Job Overview The Behavior Specialist provides behavioral support services to residents with developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, behavioral challenges, or other special needs. This position works collaboratively with residents, direct care staff, families, regional centers, healthcare professionals, and community partners to develop, implement, and monitor behavior support strategies that promote safety, independence, dignity, and quality of life. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct behavioral assessments and identify factors contributing to challenging behaviors. Develop and implement individualized behavior support plans. Monitor resident progress and modify interventions as needed. Provide coaching, guidance, and training to direct care staff regarding behavior support techniques and de-escalation strategies. Assist staff in implementing positive behavior interventions and person-centered approaches. Review incident reports and identify behavioral trends. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences. Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, social workers, regional center personnel, and other service providers. Maintain accurate documentation, assessments, progress notes, and behavior data. Assist with crisis intervention and behavioral stabilization when necessary. Ensure services are delivered in accordance with resident rights, facility policies, and applicable regulations. Support residents in achieving goals related to independence, social skills, community integration, and daily living activities. Strong communication and documentation skills. Preferred Qualifications Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA), Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), or similar behavioral health credential. Experience in residential care, group homes, ARFs, ICFs, behavioral health programs, or regional center services. Familiarity with California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and Community Care Licensing regulations.
Pay:
$17.00 - $22.00 per hour
