Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Director of Facilities & Safety for a mission-driven behavioral health and social services organization based in Oakland, California. This is a full-time, exempt leadership opportunity responsible for overseeing facilities operations, maintenance, safety, security, fleet management, compliance, and capital improvement initiatives across multiple locations.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Facilities & Safety is responsible for leading all facilities operations, safety programs, security functions, maintenance activities, vendor management, fleet operations, and capital improvement projects across a multi-site organization. This role serves as the organization's facilities and safety leader, ensuring compliance with OSHA, Cal OSHA, The Joint Commission (TJC), and other regulatory requirements while maintaining safe, clean, welcoming, and fully functional environments of care. The Director partners closely with executive leadership to support operational excellence, emergency preparedness, long-term facilities planning, and organizational growth. PERKS

RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee facilities operations, maintenance, safety, security, fleet management, and campus operations across multiple locations
Lead and develop facilities staff, including union and non-union employees, while managing vendors, contractors, and service providers
Ensure compliance with OSHA, Cal OSHA, The Joint Commission (TJC), life safety standards, and applicable regulatory requirements
Manage capital projects, procurement activities, RFP processes, preventative maintenance programs, and facility improvement initiatives
Develop and manage departmental budgets while identifying cost-saving opportunities and supporting long-term facilities planning
Lead emergency preparedness, safety training, incident investigations, security protocols, and organizational response planning
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Operations, Safety, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Five or more years of facilities management experience with increasing levels of responsibility
Experience managing multi-site or multi-region facilities operations
Experience leading facilities, maintenance, housekeeping, or related operational teams
Knowledge of OSHA, Cal OSHA, The Joint Commission (TJC), life safety standards, building codes, ADA requirements, security systems, and vendor management
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary range of $125,000-$158,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Comprehensive benefits package available.
