Job Description

Overview Monterey Park Hospital, a 101-acute care facility located in the San Gabriel Valley of Los Angeles County, is seeking a Director of Engineering for our Plant Operations and Bio Medical Engineering Departments. This is a full-time, day shift position reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. Responsibilities The Director of Facilities directs all programs to maintain the facility, grounds, equipment, utilities, construction, and safety. The Director coordinates these activities with all departments to ensure safe and efficient Hospital operations. Plans, directs, and coordinates services for the Engineering and Bio-Med departments and is also responsible for Security Services (contracted staff). Prepares work schedules and coordinates the workflow and projects assigned to staff. Advises the
CEO/COO/CNO
of administrative, department, and facility issues or concerns. Submits necessary capital requests by anticipating and planning for capital equipment needs. Demonstrates proficient knowledge, skills, and abilities with building and maintenance codes, Joint Commission requirements, OSHA and State regulations, Infection Control and AQMD codes and standards. Keeps current on required documentation for regulatory compliance at all times. Coordinates the local/state fire authority, OSHA, DOHS, and TJC inspection visits involving the facility or building concerns. Identifies and implements strategies to reduce costs and improve services. Reviews and revises Department Policies and Procedures as standards change. Designated Chairperson for the Environment of Care Committee and also serves as the Facility Safety Officer and Decontamination Safety Officer Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline or a minimum of five (5) years of management/supervisory experience in the facilities department of a hospital is required. Construction knowledge required. CA Unlimited Steam Engineer License preferred
