A Facilities Manager manages the facilities of a company or organization, including buildings and grounds, equipment, supplies and staff. Oversees maintenance and security of facilities; oversees renovation projects and monitors work to improve energy efficiency, productivity or employee safety. May work in manufacturing and production, or manage hotels, small apartment buildings, trailer parks or recreational facilities.
The primary responsibility of the Facilities Manager is to work on behalf of the Session through its Building & Grounds Committee and report to them to ensure that the facilities of New Hope Presbyterian Church are safe, operational, attractive, and sustainable.
Essential Roles:
Identify and prioritize a list of facility-related projects for approval by Building & Grounds Committee and Session. Serve as a liaison between the Building and Grounds Committee, contractors, and staff. Advise Building & Grounds Committee as they create and allocate their annual budget. Manage maintenance and facilities contracts to provide optimal service for New Hope. Implement repair of facilities in a timely manner, including overseeing subcontractors. Ensure facility operations reflect environmental stewardship and sustainability goals of the church.
Basic Duties:
Coordinate with the Church's Facilities/Custodian to complete recurring maintenance as well as special repair projects. Oversee custodian services, contracts, and cleanliness of facilities. Ensure regulatory inspections and maintenance are scheduled and completed in a timely fashion. Maintenance would include, but not be limited to, elevator, security (locks and cameras), internal fire suppression sprinklers and alarm system, backflow tests, HVAC, fire extinguishers, audio visual equipment. Review of all contracts prior to renewal, including comparative analysis with alternative suppliers. Acquire bids for special and capital projects Negotiate and Manage Long-Term use agreements. Coordinate and provide oversight of special projects, such as major repairs and capital expenditures (i.e., roof, parking lot, etc.) under the guidance of the Building & Grounds Committee. Provide room setup and facility preparation as needed for church and community events. Maintain an up-to-date maintenance calendar and facility records, including warranties, inspection logs, vendor contacts, and project documentation. Develop and oversee a volunteer maintenance team, identifying and training volunteers for appropriate facility support tasks. Monitor energy use and recommend cost-effective improvements for energy efficiency and waste reduction. Ensure building security, including key management, coordination with security providers and security walks. Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings to ensure consistent communication. Complete other duties as assigned.
General Responsibilities:
Understand and support the beliefs, vision, mission, and ministry of New Hope Presbyterian Church. Work collaboratively with other staff and support the staff values and norms, follow the Guidelines as stated in the Employee Handbook, and respect confidentiality. Represent Christ and New Hope Presbyterian Church with grace and hospitality. Communicate effectively and proactively with staff, committees, and the congregation about facility issues, closures, or ongoing projects. Model a commitment to safety by promoting safe work practices and compliance with OSHA or local regulations. Education & Experience High School diploma or equivalent. 3+ Years of Project Management Experience. Experience working in a nonprofit, faith-based, or community organization preferred.
Qualifications:
Proficiency with Office 365. Excellent people skills. Good writing and communication skills. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task. Experience in one or more skilled trade such as construction, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC or electrical is preferred.
HOURS:
25 hours per week minimum. Additional hours as needed. Flexible hours.
COMPENSATION
Range $28-32/hour; commensurate with skill and experience.
Evaluation:
This position is evaluated annually by the Head of Staff/Senior Pastor in consultation with the Building & Grounds Committee Chair. A written report is prepared of this evaluation and signed by the Head of Staff/Senior Pastor. During the evaluation, the Job Description shall be reviewed and needed alterations discussed.
