Position Summary This is a hands-on facilities maintenance technician responsible for the day-to-day operation, troubleshooting, repair, and upkeep of campus building systems and laboratory support infrastructure. The position is expected to perform routine, corrective, and preventive maintenance work, respond to alarms and emergencies, and support active laboratory operations. While vendor coordination is part of the role, the primary expectation is direct execution of maintenance tasks, not administrative oversight. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, reliable, and compliant working environment. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Hands On Maintenance & Troubleshooting (Core Focus) Perform daily hands-on maintenance activities across multiple buildings, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, architectural, and basic HVAC-related tasks. Troubleshoot and respond to facility system issues (HVAC, alarms, lab utilities, power, building systems) and take corrective action. Perform routine and corrective maintenance using basic hand and power tools, ladders, and diagnostic equipment. Conduct building maintenance walks, identify deficiencies, complete repairs, and follow through to closure. Monitor and respond to Client/Client and alarm systems campuswide, including off-hours response as part of the on-call rotation. Respond to emergency situations involving building systems (HVAC failures, alarms, utility interruptions). Support basic lab equipment maintenance activities (e.g., oil levels in pumps, visual inspections, minor adjustments). Perform cleanup and physical support tasks associated with facilities and laboratory operations. Vendor Support Coordinate and support vendor activities after hands-on troubleshooting and evaluation. Escort contractors and assist Facilities Managers during service visits, inspections, and repairs. Support scheduling and execution of contracted work while maintaining site standards and safety requirements. Serve as a primary contact for vendors when hands-on response is not sufficient or specialized repair is required.
Pay:
$30.00 - $34.00 per hour
