POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting directly to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor with dotted line reporting to the City Architect, the Assistant Maintenance Technician will support the work of both the Facilities Maintenance Division and the Capital Projects Division. The City of Englewood ("the City") maintains over 11 facilities, including a golf club house, two recreation centers, a water park, a water treatment plant, a civic center (including a municipal court and library), and a police station. Included as part of the City Manager's Office, the Facilities work group includes three divisions: (1) Capital projects, overseeing projects to update and refresh buildings, workspaces, and community spaces; (2) Facilities Maintenance, coordinating the general and routine maintenance of all City facilities; and (3) Custodial, responsible for the cleanliness of all City facilities. This entry-level position will be a valued member of the Facilities team, assisting with both new capital projects as well as the maintenance of facilities. The position will play a role in scheduling the work of vendors, greeting them, and providing them with access. Additionally, the role will be responsible for helping with badge and key access, performing routine checks of facility assets, and assisting members of the Capital Projects and Facilities Maintenance divisions as needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Duties & Responsibilities Vendor engagement Assist in scheduling the work of vendors contracted to perform work on City facilities; Tracks arrival and departure times of vendors; Provides access to vendors to spaces in which they are scheduled to perform work; Assists team members in ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards; Communicates vendor work schedules to facility managers; and Communicates with staff members in the Capital Projects and Facilities Maintenance Division relative to challenges with vendor access and the completion of work performed by vendors. Performs light maintenance work, supporting maintenance technicians Moves maintenance tools and storage items from facilities, as needed; Shadows Facilities Maintenance Technicians to develop basic understanding of core facility systems; Assists in the staging of materials and cleanup of maintenance and capital projects; Assists in the tracking of tools and materials in the facilities storage areas; Assists in maintaining cleanliness and organization of storage areas; Assists in the ordering of needed parts and supplies; As needed and as requested, assists employees in moving office spaces; and Assists in responding, at the direction of the Facilities Maintenance Supervisors, to some facilities requests, such as those requesting the hanging of items on walls. Performs routine checks of City facilities and facility assets May be requested to perform routine checks of safety apparatuses, such as fire extinguishers; May assist Facilities Technicians in diagnosing and repairing equipment; and May assist Facilities Technicians in performing routine facility and equipment maintenance checks Assists with monitoring and coordinating the City's badging and key access systems As needed and as directed, assists in making keys for employee access; Assists in tracking inventories of keys and badges; and As needed and as directed, assists in providing badge access to City employees. PREPARATION AND TRAINING
Education High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED). Work Experience A year of experience in assisting with the implementation of facilities project and maintenance is preferred Certifications and/or Licensures None Required Driver's License Valid Colorado driver's license and a clear or acceptable MVR An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant job experience may be substituted.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge Basic knowledge of: Use of power and hand tools to perform basic carpentry work, such as hanging items on walls; Assisting in the diagnosis and repair of equipment; Safety protocols for facilities maintenance work; Building systems, such as electrical, plumbing, and HVAC; Keying and badging systems; Skills and Abilities Attention to Detail

Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to eight hours at a time Ability to perform work at high elevations Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular and continuing basis Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 pounds on occasion; Must be able to walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill tasks
