YEARLY General Summary:
The Facilities Project Manager is responsible for planning, estimating, contracting, and field supervision of new construction and renovation projects. The team member is the department's process owner for construction project management standards, procedures, and related controls, including the application of software and related tools and technology. They lead the development of requests for contractor proposals, benchmarking construction costs, recommending and making contractor selections, negotiating construction agreements, assessing design documents for constructability, and ensuring contractors safely deliver projects that meet quality, schedule, and budget requirements. They also lead the execution of work through coordination with designers, construction management firms, hospital departments, and permitting authorities having jurisdiction to achieve the required project outcomes. They are responsible for managing resources, coordinating teams, and communicating with stakeholders to deliver projects throughout the process, including turnover, activation, and final closeout. To this end, they supervise and motivate project teams, including delegating and tracking task schedules, maintaining schedules, and controlling budgets. The Facilities Project Manager must possess expert knowledge in all aspects of planning, contracting, and managing construction. Engineering competency required includes the ability to establish project plans for installing complex building structures, exterior land improvements, critical utilities, building automation systems, and medical equipment. Must be able to apply knowledge of facility operations and construction phasing, particularly within operational facilities, to progress projects safely and productively. A working knowledge of life safety, NFPA, and other applicable building codes is required to ensure quality and compliance throughout the project process. Must also be able to establish and maintain a culture of safety aligned with OSHA and other Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) requirements throughout the project process. Department team members are authorized to have limited access to secured medication rooms to perform duties and responsibilities as defined in this job description. Any staff member requiring limited access to secured medication rooms must have a fully completed and signed Medication Security Agreement for Non-Licensed Personnel form on file and available upon request.
Responsibilities:
1. Establish and implement standards, procedures, and process controls for managing the construction of new hospital facilities and renovations. Utilize construction management software and technologies to maintain documents, schedules, cost, and reporting. 2. Collaborate and liaise with the Hospital's In-House Architects, Designers, and Consulting Firms to develop comprehensive project execution plans, including timelines, resource allocations, and procurement strategies. 3. Evaluate and select contractors and subcontractors based on qualifications, experience, and cost-effectiveness. 4. Communicate with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other relevant parties to complete constructability assessments and ensure designs are aligned with a smooth and practical workflow. 5. Conduct regular meetings to facilitate communication, address challenges, and meet project objectives. 6. Provide leadership and guidance to the construction management team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment 7. Manage and optimize allocation of resources, including personnel, materials, and equipment. 8. Coordinate and oversee construction activities, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to project schedules and specifications. 9. Monitor and control project costs, manage expenses, and ensure target values are met. 10. Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and ensure project success. 11. Provide regular updates and reports on project status, including KPIs, schedule milestones, expenditures, projections, any significant risks, and mitigations. 12. Implement and enforce safety protocols. Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), NFPA life safety, OSHA, local building codes, and other applicable regulations to achieve a safe and productive working environment for all staff, contractors, and subcontractors. 13. Manage construction project documentation, including contracts, permits, drawings, and change orders. 14. Coordinate field activities with key stakeholders, including Department leadership, Clinical, Infection Prevention, Public Safety, Information Technology, and Plant Operations, in the execution of work and resolution of problems. 15. Implement quality control measures, including the inspection and commissioning processes, to ensure work meets the required standards and specifications. 16. Oversee and coordinate all elements of the project turnover and close-out including punch list resolution, documentation turnover, and project close out ensuring department design and operations teams receive comprehensive and timely deliverables. 17. Conducts thorough project evaluations and after-action assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary process changes. 18.
