About Us:
Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory, a Catholic secondary school in the Marianist and Catholic traditions, boasts a strong academic and student-life program for students in grades 9-12. Located in Hollywood, FL our school is a vibrant and life-enriching place for professional educators to practice and refine their craft. Position Overview:
We are seeking a dependable, hands-on Facilities Specialist to support the daily maintenance, repair, safety, and overall operation of our school campus and facilities. This role is responsible for performing a wide range of general maintenance and semi-skilled trades work, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, preventative maintenance, and campus support services.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform general maintenance and repair of buildings, classrooms, offices, grounds, and campus facilities.
  • Replace or repair building materials and fixtures including doors, windows, tile, cabinets, shelving, sinks, lighting, smoke alarms, filters, and related equipment.
  • Complete minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, and painting work.
  • Troubleshoot facility issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Respond to work orders and maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist with furniture moves, event setups/breakdowns, and campus support needs.
  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings, systems, and equipment to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, water, and related systems.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in safe operating condition.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, organization, and overall campus appearance.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance situations during and after hours as needed.
  • Support campus security procedures including gates, alarms, and emergency preparedness protocols.
  • Track and update maintenance requests using a computerized work order system.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed.
  • Assist with inventory, ordering, and purchasing of maintenance materials and supplies.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous facilities, maintenance, or building operations experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of general maintenance practices including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and HVAC preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials and equipment.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, and reaching.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and on-call emergency shifts as needed.
Work Environment:
  • Indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Noise from equipment and school activities.
  • Cleaning agents, maintenance tools, and repair materials.
  • Interaction with students, staff, parents, and visitors.
