Full Job Description Position Overview:
We are seeking a dependable, hands-on Facilities Specialist to support the daily maintenance, repair, safety, and overall operation of our school. This role is responsible for performing a wide range of general maintenance and semi-skilled trades work, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, preventative maintenance, and campus support services.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform general maintenance and repair of buildings, offices, grounds, and overall facilities.
- Replace or repair building materials and fixtures including doors, windows, tile, cabinets, shelving, sinks, lighting, smoke alarms, filters, and related equipment.
- Complete minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, and painting work.
- Troubleshoot facility issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Respond to work orders and maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist with furniture moves, event setups/breakdowns, and organizational support needs.
- Conduct routine inspections of buildings, systems, and equipment to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
- Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, water, and related systems.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces in safe operating condition.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, organization, and overall campus appearance.
- Respond to emergency maintenance situations during and after hours as needed.
- Support organizational security procedures including gates, alarms, and emergency preparedness protocols.
- Track and update maintenance requests using a computerized work order system.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed.
- Assist with inventory, ordering, and purchasing of maintenance materials and supplies.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous facilities, maintenance, or building operations experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of general maintenance practices including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and HVAC preventative maintenance.
- Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials and equipment.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, and reaching.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and on-call emergency shifts as needed.
