Job Description

Performs a variety of administrative and supervisory work associated with the maintenance and operation of City facilities and special projects. Responsible for the management and maintenance of all Public Facilities including but not limited to, personnel supervision and direction, material purchasing, maintenance of parks' structures.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
This position is supervised by the Director of Public Works or designee.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervises full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff. Plans, organizes and coordinates the work of more than one crew engaged in the maintenance of areas assigned to the Facilities Unit Establishes work priorities for the Unit Visually inspects work in progress. Supervises construction and repair projects, and inspects the work of staff and contractors Conducts routine inspections of assigned areas and prepares recommendations as to maintenance work needed As necessary, performs crew work including the operation of equipment Manages and monitors related purchases per City policy Participates in the preparation of Invitations to Bid, Requests for Proposal and Requests for Qualifications Provides for personnel, materials and equipment necessary to perform work; and maintains adequate inventories of materials and equipment Manages construction, renovation and/or reconstruction of all City buildings whether performed in-house or contracted out Provides staff support for required recreation programs Participates in the recruitment, selection and training of all staff Evaluates the performance of crew members Keeps accurate and complete records on inventory and maintenance procedures Maintenance, Repairs and Operations Program (MRO): Manages the City's preventative maintenance program and ensures accurate record keeping of same Manages all aspects of contract activities, such as fire-sprinkler maintenance, fire/burglar alarm, fire extinguisher maintenance, elevator maintenance, and art maintenance contracts Oversees the work of the plumbing, electrical and HVAC trades Maintains excellent working relationships within and outside the department Conducts various equipment inspections to determine repair and/or replacement needs Conducts daily inspections, reporting any inconsistencies or malfunctions of all City facilities and structures Assists the Division Director or designee in the preparation of specifications for equipment and/or projects Participates in the preparation of the budget; develops projections for future expenditures; creates goals and objectives for the Unit Conducts weekly and monthly staff meetings Communicates effectively with all staff, both verbally and in writing, on a daily basis Responds to inquiries and complaints from the public and or other departments; and coordinates activities with other departments or applicable agencies Makes routine purchases Performs duties as assigned during emergency response conditions Participates in related local, state and national associations Performs any other related duties as required or assigned Responsible to respond to issues as they arise outside of normal working hours
PERIPHERAL DUTIES
May serve as a member on various employee committees Coordinates the disposition of surplus City property Bachelor's Degree in public administration, construction management or architecture, and Extensive experience in building maintenance, project management, construction management, or Any related combination of education, training, and experience Active member of the American Public Works Association (APWA) Valid State of Florida Driver's License with a good driving record
