OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
The Facilities Technician is responsible for completing work orders and work as assigned by the Facilities Manager. The work will include but is not limited to groundskeeping, inventory movement and stocking, light building repairs, assisting Facility Manager with building repairs, installations and jobs that require more than one person, and general property maintenance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with checking work orders and handling tasks that require one person. Assist with drywall, painting and light carpentry projects. Assemble furniture and light repairs, as needed. Perform light duties including but not limited to replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, toilet and urinal issues that don't require a plumber, hanging items on walls, repairing doors or window covering. Responsible for operations and maintenance of a variety of tools to maintain in working order. Stocking weekly janitorial products that arrive after being received. Check facilities for damaged or dangerous items in need of repair or replacement and advise Facility Manager. Assist with setting up events. Maintain the grounds ensuring trash is picked up, landscaping is neat and tidy, walkways and play areas are free of yard debris (acorns, branches, etc). Assist with floor tile repairs, as needed. Handle small insect issues and escalate as needed to school's exterminator. Work through School Safety Checklist monthly ensuring all areas of all campuses are receiving proper attention. Change letters on marquee sign, as needed. Work closely with Facilities Manager to check playground equipment, decks, and fields for safe conditions. Provide an exceptional customer experience, partnering approach and "Can-Do" attitude in interactions with teachers, administrators, and cleaning crew. Other duties as assigned and as skillset allows.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in maintenance field or construction. High school degree required. Capable of performing a wide variety of tasks that ensure the facilities are maintained in a safe and effective manner Possess a good working knowledge of building materials Ability to climb step and extension ladders Ability to lift heavy items, up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, move quickly. Must have basic familiarity with tools. Must hold valid driver's license and current automobile insurance. Must pass a background and DMV check. Exceptional customer experience and client satisfaction focus Strong proficiency with verbal and written Communications. Preference for bi-lingual English / Spanish speakers. Competency in performing repairs such as door handle replacement, fence repairing, changing light bulbs, changing air condition filters, assembling of furniture, mounting items on the wall, etc. Strong Problem Solving and Analysis skills. Exceptional people skills Ability to work efficiently and independently in order to get the work completed. Must be flexible and adaptable to change in an often-fast moving environment. Highly organized and able to multi-task, a plus. 7:30am - 11:30am throughout school year and school breaks. Standard holidays will be days off. Summer schedule could look different depending on needs.
